Living Hope called us on Tuesday, June 27th. As it was, they had to leave a message because Sheila was running errands in preparation to stay home the next two days (if necessary) to await the much anticipated call. After she returned the call, we found out that the referral information was actually in translation and the message contained all the information available anyway. Now we were told we would probably have to wait on the actual packet and since July 4th was just after the weekend, we had several L O N G days to wait.
The GREAT news came, however, two days later on Thursday the 29th. Living Hope once again called and said the referral packet had been mailed and we would have it by 3:00 PM the next day (Friday). Halleluiah!!!
If you know Sheila, you KNOW she wasn’t about to wait till 3:00 to get Ruby’s referral. She was at the Fed Ex office at the airport when they opened. Unfortunately, the line she was in lasted longer than the trucks were there, and they had all left by the time she asked for the package. Not to be outdone, she was off “truck chasing”, a sport well-known among those families awaiting referral papers and pictures. To make a long story short, she got home with the packet about 10:00 AM.
Ruby is more than we could EVER have dreamed or imagined. When we opened the packet containing her pictures, we were floored, to say the least. The eyes of an angel were looking right at us. Not since we opened Jada's referral had we felt the same excitement and love that we felt at that moment. As I have said MANY times, I am a blessed man and I still cannot fathom how I was chosen to have this "It's a Wonderful Life" family.
Here are the pictures we received in the packet. It appears two were taken at one time and the other two were taken at another time. We are so happy and cannot wait to travel to Guangdong Province in China to bring our Ruby Lin home.
